Shye and I went for an adventure today, out at Kleskun Hills!
It's a pretty big hill for a small kid, and there's 5 more like it.
I asked her, "How big is the mountain?" "This Big!"

Teen Camp

I've spent the last couple weeks doing Camp. Just finished an exhaustingly great week of Teen Camp. And I can't say I'm anything but excited for life to reach normal. It's been months and months since I've known normal.

So I just saw this article where people are freaking out cause a restaurant has put crickets on the menu. And I laughed because I've eaten those crickets! A Cambodian delicacy!! Read the article HERE.

Happy Canada Day!

I spent last weekend with family down in Wetaskawin, celebrating my grandparents 50th anniversary. Congratulations to you both. They had a great party, and I enjoyed explaining my life to dozens of relatives I only see every 5-10years. We got to see a video of my grandparents whole lives, which was very enlightening, I was shocked to see my young-Grandma prancing around in some pretty small outifts! Not that I blame her, if I looked that good I would too! And Kayte and I dueted a Rosie Thomas song. Now I'm in a mad camp prep season. I'm out-of-town this next week with Sr. High / Young Adults Camp, back for 3 days and then on to a week of Teen Camp. Which I'm ultimately responsible for, and have to have pretty much done before I leave Saturday. Hence why I'm working on Canada Day. So I wish a Happy Canada Day to you all! And I'm moving on to my lists of To-Do's.

PS: Even though it wasn't on my To-Do List I managed to end up in the Studio Y? float at the Canada Day parade this afternoon. I'm waved-out!

Friday Freedom

Friday marked the end of my first semester of leading Youth Group. Year One... check! Now on to summer camps... gulp!! I gotta say, I don't think I really expected myself to be able to do it, I'm not very self-confident that way. But here I am.
And in some bizarre and wonderful twist, I am so much more self-confident than I was in January. Public speaking, even, no - especially on faith, has become considerably less daunting. Could this be what God wanted to build into me, why He put me in such a bizarre role? I mean certainly my placement here has to be much bigger than what it accomplishes in me. I'm not the point. But in addition to what I am doing, there is the part of asking what God is accomplishing in me. And it is a beautiful thing to say that God is doing things in me, not the kind of thing that makes me feel better. But the kind of thing that makes me a better woman, and more useful to Him.
And that strengthens me, especially when the things of life are messy and painful.
So for the next 3 months I am a free woman, I mean I still have to work just the same. But my Friday night's are now my own. Now what do I do?

My brother got hitched yesterday, and I think that's pretty great! He married my good friend Lisa, (and it was about time), I'm so glad I can now call her sister! It was an incredibly beautiful wedding, such a fun day. And I love digital photography and the instant results - Enjoy!
