The Week

I've had a good, busy week so far:
- one of my patients named her baby after me!
- finished a good 24hr hour shift this morning.
- visited a patient in the local public hospital, and she's doing much better!
- tomorrow I get to enjoy a free massage with some of my coworkers!
- and Friday we are celebrating the 4 year anniversary of the Clinic!

And today is officially 3 months till I hop on that very, very long flight home! Time flies!

BIG NEWS

I have booked my flights home! It feels so definite, to actually have a timeline. Wow! And while it is way too early to begin any kind of count down, the official stats are now: 7 months in, 4 months to go!
I will return to GP and cry many, many happy tears upon seeing my family, on December 13th! I am coming home in time to get in the Christmas spirit and before my last visa runs out!
Also, on a side note, I am working on the aforementioned poem, it's almost there I think. I'll post it later this week. I realize that I had promised poetry way back long ago, and only delivered once or twice. I'll try harder, I will.

I'm Here!

I didn't think it would happen - but I have finally arrived!!
I can't give you any news now, but it was eventful, and I am very glad to no longer be in transit.
Thanx for your prayers, I'll have pictures and news in the next day or two.

The Countdown is On!!

The Date

I guess I have one bit of news that I have not yet remembered to share with you. My mother is on my case to blog about it - even though she already knows... But I suppose I should blog it anyway:
I bought my tickets!
I now have my "departing the country" date. Ooh, and the word - date, works in two ways: I am leaving Vancouver on January 21 (1:30am - yuck), and one of my dear midwife friends is flying with me. I have a date!
What hasn't been finalized is when I will leave GP for Vancouver. I'm looking into going a day or two early to spend some time in a 24-7 Prayer room down there.
I suppose I haven't given 24-7 much time on this blog, when in fact it is very dear to my heart, and was a big part of my life for a few years. 24-7 Prayer is a movement of youth and young-at-heart who are praying as if it all depends on God - and living as if it all depends on us. Most often 24-7 is expressed in local churches/schools/etc setting up prayer rooms to run non-stop for a week or longer. These rooms are dedicated solely to prayer - but what that prayer looks like is limitless! Most rooms have lots of music, art supplies, quiet corners, room to dance, journals, newspapers and globes. And people take on hour long time-slots, round the clock, and take time out to be with God and whatever business He leads them to do.
There's a room running in Vancouver that has be running non-stop for 3 years!! (Correct me if I'm wrong on that variable) It's located right in the heart of the seedy and needy Vancouver and its a place dedicated solely to God. I've never had the chance to visit it, and in fact it's been some time since I've had a chance in any prayer room.
So I'm looking at taking a day or two to transition out of home and into this mission. To focus on God, to find His courage and comfort (leaving is always so very hard!). To remember that my calling in all of this is always to know Him, and to bring glory to Him.
That's the news.

Arrival!

After a long, rather ardous day, I arrived home last night, pretty late. But home, in one peice, with my luggage. Besides the fact that I had to be at the airport at 5am, everything about my flights was going to smoothly, through to waiting at the gate for my Edmonton-GP flight. And then without warning they hit to the loadspeakers to inform us that ALL Jazz flights have been cancelled for the entire day! ALL of them!
That leaves a lot of people not very impressed, and bunch of people very frantic. So getting our luggage back was a process of 2 hours, which really didn't help those trying tpo fly out on other airlines! Arghh.
But I was not one of those trying to fly out on an other line. I actually had no idea what to do with myself. I was pretty set on getting home, but there didn't seem to be many options. And the airline wasn't offering to give us any help, no hotels, food or transfers! But amazingly as I was talking with my fam, Ben realized that he had a friend driving back from Edmo. And with a quick call he had secured for me a ride home! I just had to get myself into Edmo - so one $60 cab ride later I was loading my stuff into Kos's car and on my way home!
It really sucked that they canceled our flights, and that I now have to be on the phone for hours on end to try and sort out my ticket. But in my hour of need - God provided at just the right time! I really couldn't believe how well, how timely everything worked out. I'm home now!!

Flight Booked

Okay 2 in one day, ridiculous, I know! But I have news to share.
I booked my flights this morning! So I now know I'll be leaving GP on June 7 - 1:00PM.
That's it - that's all, 50 short days left. And then...
"I'm leaving on a jet plane, don't know when I'll be back again."
You can all plan to come crowd the GP airport, (shouldn't be too hard), to wave and cry and blow kisses. Or something. Mark your calendars!
